Scott B. Sheren, M.D.

A board-certified ophthalmologist, Dr. Sheren is an associate examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology as well as a clinical instructor at Stony Brook University Hospital.

After his undergraduate education at Rutgers University, Dr. Sheren earned his medical degree cum laude from SUNY Health Science Center College of Medicine in Syracuse, where he was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. His post-doctoral training included an internship at The Staten Island Hospital followed by an ophthalmology residency at Washington University-Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, MO. where he served as chief resident.

Dr. Sheren has over 20 years of experience in cataract and implant surgery, and is interested in all aspects of cataract surgery including complex eye surgeries involving cataracts as well as dislocated intraocular lenses.  He actively uses premium lens implants to minimize patient's dependence on eyeglasses after surgery.  His practice also includes glaucoma microsurgery and the comprehensive management of the diabetic eye.

Dr. Sheren is the chariman of the credentials committee at the Peconic Bay Medical Center.

Dr. Sheren has been appointed the director of the Robert Merriam Rogers Center for Eye Surgery at Peconic Bay Medical Center.

Outside the office, Dr. Sheren enjoys tai chi, hiking, bicycling and spending time with his wife and daughters.

Eric T. Vinokur, M.D.

Dr. T. Eric Vinokur | Riverhead

A board-certified ophthalmologist, Dr. Vinokur specializes in cornea and external diseases. He is a clinical instructor in the Department of Ophthalmology at Stony Brook University Hospital.

Dr. Vinokur earned his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1981 after completing his undergraduate education at Tulane University in New Orleans. His post-graduate training began with an internship at Hackensack Medical Center in New Jersey, followed by a residency and chief residency in ophthalmology at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Vinokur then went on to complete a clinical and research fellowship in cornea and external diseases at Emory University in Atlanta, GA.

Outside the office, Dr. Vinokur enjoys exercising, baking, reading, listening to music, and watching sports.

Daniel C. Hamou, M.D.

Dr. Daniel C. Hamou | RiverheadA board-certified ophthalmologist, Dr. Hamou specializes in refractive surgery, dry eye/blepharitis, and cataracts. After completing his undergraduate education at the State University of New York at Binghamton, he earned his medical degree from Sackler School of Medicine in Tel Aviv, Israel in 1995. His post-doctoral training included an internship at Winthrop University Hospital as well as an ophthalmology residency and chief residency at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset. These were followed by a clinical fellowship in corneal and refractive surgery at St. Barnabas Hospital-Corneal Associates of NJ. Dr. Hamou has served as the former Chief of Surgery at the Peconic Bay Medical Center and currently serves as the Director of Cornea Transplant Surgery there.

Dr. Hamou enjoys softball, jogging, playing piano, and spending time with his daughters.

Marc Dinowitz , M.D.

Dr. Mark Dinowitz | RiverheadDr. Dinowitz was born and raised on Long Island, lives in Wading River, and is happily married with three children. A board-certified ophthalmologist, he specializes in dry eye and ocular surface disorders, complex cataract and corneal disorders, anterior segment reconstruction, and unusual LASIK cases. He is an assistant professor of clinical ophthalmology at Stony Brook University where he instructs residents in medical and surgical ophthalmology. He has served in several offices of the Suffolk County Ophthalmology Society, including President.

Among the awards Dr. Dinowitz has received throughout his education and clinical practice are being named among America's Top Doctors in the guide published by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. (2004). Nassau University Medical Center honored him with a Junior Attending of the Year Award as well as a Surgical Attending of the Year Award in 2004 and 2006, respectively. Not one to rest on his laurels, Dr. Dinowitz participated in charitable outreach in Kunming, China, through ORBIS International in 2006.

Dr. Dinowitz completed his undergraduate studies summa cum laude with departmental honors and earned his medical degree from Stony Brook University, where he was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa honor society. His post-doctoral training began with an internship at Winthrop University Hospital, followed by an ophthalmology residency at the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey. Dr. Dinowitz went on to complete a fellowship in cornea, external eye disease, cataract, and refractive surgery at The Wilmer Eye Institute-The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD, earning a special resident teaching award.

Outside the office, Dr. Dinowitz enjoys spending time with his kids, watching movies and playing various outdoor sports.
